Avengers: Infinity War's Runtime May Have Leaked, And It's Long
Avengers: Infinity War is going to be a huge movie in just about every way that it can be. Not only is it the biggest blockbuster of 2018, it is looking seriously massive in scale. There are scenes said to contain over 30 characters and there's a huge amount of material to work through, so people have been wondering about the runtime of Infinity War for some time. It has to be the longest movie ever, right? Luckily for fans, newly leaked runtime may reveal the length of the movie. Ff true, it will mean that Infinity War is indeed the longest MCU movie at 2 hours and 36 minutes.
The runtime was originally released by AMC (via Dark Horizons) which had Avengers: Infinity War coming in at 2 hours and 36 minutes. However, AMC has since pulled this information, although, Fandango echoes the runtime. There is still a chance this isn't the official runtime, but it certainly sounds about right. The Russo Brothers said at Comic-Con last year that they were expecting the movie to come in at around two and half hours, so this supports the leaked runtime.
Should Avengers: Infinity War truly be 2 hours and 36 minutes long, that will make it the longest MCU movie ever. The current title holder is Captain America: Civil War at 2 hours and 27 minutes -- 9 minutes shorter than the leaked Infinity War time. Typically solo films wrap up around the 2 hours and 10-20 minutes range, while the Avengers movies (and Civil War) finish around the 2 hours and 20-30 minutes. So, Infinity War isn't so much longer than its predecessors, but over two and a half hours is nothing to shake a stick at.
Avengers: Infinity War will need to make use of every second of its runtime. The blockbuster has a seriously huge roster of characters, each one of which needs some amount of spotlight. There's also Thanos, who will need to take up a chunk of time for himself if he's going to be billed as the baddest villain in the MCU. The Russos proved themselves masters of time management in Civil War, giving every character an arc-- no matter how small it may have been.
Regardless of what the runtime is, I'm sure that people will fill out the theaters in droves to see Avengers: Infinity War.
