Frozen 2 Official Trailer Has Elsa Testing Her Powers

Weve known the Frozen 2 trailer would be coming this week to melt our hearts and now its here. The new trailer for the upcoming Disney sequel finally reveals the adventure that Elsa will be going on. Before that, though, Elsa is definitely testing her powers and her abilities in the new trailer, which you can check out below.

We've seen a teaser for Frozen 2 already, which featured a little bit of the sequence of Elsa testing her abilities on moving water, but here the official trailer almost starts out as a full clip. Elsa takes on the ocean, determined, and seems to be handling it well until the ocean swallows her. After falling through the water on the stormy night, she's a little scared underwater by a water horse (which you can see below) before bursting above the water to catch her breath.

The trailer is mostly Elsa focused early on, but then Pabbie is there to sort of explain the nature of the plot to the audience and tell Elsa what her next adventure will be. Apparently, she'll be going north, and seemingly that's where Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf will be involved. Here's what Pabbie tells the magical Queen of Arendelle

Elsa, the past is not what it seems. You must find the truth. Go north, across the Enchanted Land and into the unknown. But be careful.

This talk of the past could absolutely tie into some of the theories that have come out recently that Elsa and Anna could be looking into what actually happened to their parents during the events occurring in Frozen back in 2013. The journey they go on will not be without challenges, however. In one scene we see a forest being ripped apart by pink fire. In another, Anna and Olaf seem to be taking a boat trip into the unknown. (Way to nod to the Epcot ride, animators.) In general, however, the journey seems like it will be a beautiful and wild ride.

It's all pretty epic-looking, which squares with what we've already heard about Frozen 2. Previously, Idina Menzel said the movie will be a "badass kind of superhero type movie," so the expectations were pretty high for this trailer going in and I don't think it disappoints. I had fun. Did you have fun?

We'll be able to find out soon enough. Frozen 2 will officially hit theaters just in time for the Thanksgiving season on November 22. There have already been some fun theories floating around about the new movie and while we wait to see how the flick ultimately pans out, be sure to look into them.

Michael Fassbenders Kung Fury Just Got Wilder, Added Arnold Schwarzenegger

Back in 2015, director David Sandberg (not to be confused with Annabelle: Creation director David F. Sandberg) released the short film Kung Fury, which at its core was a love letter to 1980s martial arts and action movies. Made off a $630,000 budget, the 31-minute Kung Fury was met with a lot of positive reviews and continues to enjoyed on several digital platforms, but we'll soon be returning to this world for a feature-length sequel. It was announced earlier this week that Michael Fassbender will lead a Kung Fury movie, and now word has come in that he'll be joined by one of the most popular action stars of the '80s and '90s: Arnold Schwarzenegger.

After completing his two terms as California's governor in 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger returned to the world of acting, appearing in movies like Terminator Genisys, The Last Stand, Escape Plan and the Expendables entries. Now he'll be adding Kung Fury to his list of action-related credits, as it was announced that he'll co-star alongside Michael Fassbender and David Hasselhoff, the latter of whom appeared in the original short film. In addition to producing the Kung Fury movie through his Laser Unicorns banner, David Sandberg will also be appearing on camera to reprise the eponymous protagonist. While the official announcement of Schwarzenegger's casting didn't identity the actor's Kung Fury character, THR has heard that he'll be playing the President of the United States.

Set in an alternate 1985, Kung Fury follows the hero of the same name, who keeps the streets of Miami safe by leading the Thundercops. This elite police force's members have been assembled from all across history to defeat the evil Kung Fuhrer, Adolph Hitler. However, after one of the Thundercops falls in the line of duty, a new villain emerges to assist the Kung Fuhrer in obtaining the ultimate weapon. With no other options left, Kung Fury will have to travel across time and space to save his allies, defend the Miami Kung Fu Academy and wipe our the forces of evil for good. Assuming that Arnold Schwarzenegger's President isn't corrupt and working with the Kung Fuhrer or this mysterious enemy, ideally that means that he'll be Kung Fury's ally, presumably giving the main hero his orders or something along those lines. David Hasselhoff will likely be voicing the Hoff 9000 again, but it remains to be seen how Michael Fassbender's character fits into the story.

Joss Whedon Has Clarified Why He Left DC's Batgirl Project

It's going to be a week filled with Marvel and, more specifically, Avengers content. Joss Whedon is one man who has dipped his toes into both Marvel and DC ponds. Last night, he was at the Avengers: Infinity War premiere, and he took a few minutes to explain what happened with the Batgirl-oriented DC movie he used to be attached to. Whedon has since quit the project, and now he has clarified exactly what went down leading to his tough decision. He said:

You know, I felt it had been a year since I had first pitched the story. A lot happened in that year. And I felt some of the elements might not work as well. And the story kind of just crumbled in my hands. There were elements that I just hadn't mastered that I, after a long time, felt like I wasn't going to. So, I told people I didn't have an idea, which isn't the exact truth. I had an idea. It just sort of didn't fit in the space that was left for it.

Previously, Joss Whedon announced he was quitting the Batgirl movie in a message to potential audiences and fans. At the time, he said he was leaving the movie project because he "didn't really have a story." Now, on the red carpet for Avengers: Infinity War, Joss Whedon revealed to Variety that he wasn't telling the truth, or at least the whole truth and nothing but the truth when he made his initial statement a few weeks ago. Instead of quitting because he said he didn't have a story, he actually says he quit because his story wasn't working, or at least elements of it weren't working. He also mentions that some facets of the story "might not work as well," which makes me wonder if this has something to do with some of the other DC projects that are currently in development over at Warner Bros. Maybe what he wanted to do didn't gel within the overall DCEU. It also should be noted that Whedon spent some time working on Justice League after Zack Snyder ceded the project, and the end result wasn't as satisfactory at the box office as Warner Bros. likely hoped, although that may not have led to Joss Whedon's ultimate decision.

Previously, Joss Whedon also revealed he had "failed" at making another mark in the DC Universe, and now he has elaborated a little bit further, talking about how his decision to leave the project was truly "heartbreaking." He said:

It was a little heartbreaking, because I was so excited about it.

The end result is that Batgirl now has a new writer and is moving forward in a new direction. This isn't atypical for the studio, either. Over the past few years, DC has announced quite a few projects. Thus far, only a handful of these have come to fruition, while other projects, including the Batgirl-fronted movie and The Flash-fronted movie, have yet to move forward into production, and some, like the project listed in this article, have had trouble keeping a director attached. Currently, we know Aquaman and Shazam are definitely happening, and Wonder Woman 2 has a release date and Patty Jenkins attached. Flashpoint also has directors, and hopefully they will stick. Other movies have been announced but aren't officially coming together yet. You can take a full look at our list of what DC will hopefully eventually have coming, here.

In the meantime, Joss Whedon may not have a Batgirl movie coming up, but he does generally tend to keep busy. We'll keep you updated on what comes next for the director, writer and producer.
